ME: Which earrings do you like best with this outfit?
COWBOY: The left one.
ME: Okay, then I’m wearing the one on the right.
Just kidding y’all. Here’s something I bet you didn’t know… If Cowboy is home while I’m picking out accessories, which includes shoes for my outfit, he usually chooses pretty well, so I’ll typically wear whichever one he decides looks the best.
Isn’t it odd that his choice of a wardrobe for himself is so basic (tan work shirt and wranglers) but he has a pretty good eye for fashion? Shocker.
The other day I stopped by 21Main in Salado to say hi to Kaye and out of the corner of my eye I spotted an animal print dress. It spoke to me. Another shocker, I know.
ME: (Speaking to Kaye) Well when did you get this cuteness of a dress?
KAYE: It’s actually a robe but you could definitely wear it as a dress.
ME: That is the most perfect thing ever!
And, you displayed it with matching earrings. I don’t think Cowboy will be able to tell that it’s a robe instead of a dress. And, it’ll be perfect to wear to an outdoor fundraiser that we have tomorrow night.
KAYE: I thought of you when it came in and I totally agree with you about wearing it as a dress.
ME: I think I need it.
Since Kaye and I think the same, she agreed. I bought it and the earrings too.
I hurriedly rush home to get ready for the fundraiser.
I start by taking a hooker bath. We all know what that is so let’s not act like you’ve never taken one. It’s quick, easy and doesn’t allow for dilly-dallying. Hair and makeup done. I head for the closet.
Cowboy comes into the closet…
ME: (Holding up two dresses to show him) It’s between these two. I’ll model them both and keep in mind that I’m wearing my cowgirl boots.
I put dress # 1 on- It’s a long aqua blue & gold, short-sleeved wrap dress.
COWBOY: (Leaning against the wall, arms crossed and looking all handsome in his wranglers) What else ya got?
I put dress #2 on (the robe) and hop out of the closet, twirling and dancing.
ME: Isn’t it perfect for tonight?
COWBOY: Definitely the first dress since that one looks like you’re wearing a bath robe.
ME: Seriously?
COWBOY: Yep, seriously.
Sweet Jesus, he’s much better at this than I thought.
