Umm, I know what you may be thinking but that is NOT where I was going in my “G” rated blog story. So get ya mind out of the gutter, lol.
So here’s the thing that you may or may not know about me. I’m afraid of the dark when I’m by myself. I’m a chicken. I get it from my mama.
There I said it…out loud.
I do not like to stay by myself overnight out here in the land of green acres. I know what you’re thinking…and you are right. I’m being ridiculous. And, all I can say to that is it is what it is.
When Cowboy leaves me by myself, two things happen without fail:
1. Sleep will deprive me at night because of the creepy noises that come to life when he’s gone.
2. I might remodel the house…just a smidge (but that’s another story).
So this particular weekend Cowboy leaves to go hunting and he also leaves me by myself…again. All by myself. In the middle of a hundred acres… just me, alone. By myself.
No problem… I’ll just keep myself busy and not think about bedtime.
At noon I start washing all of the patios down.
3 o’clock- I grab a bite to eat.
6 o’clock- I decide to reorganize my pantry.
8 o’clock- I hop in the shower.
9 o’clock- I grab my laptop and Sophie Sue (my precious little pumpkin diva dog) and we settle into bed.
9:05 (and dark outside)- I hear a strange noise. Sophie’s ears perk up and she looks toward the door. For the love of God. Here we go again.
9:06- It sounds like a knocking and scratching noise.
9:07- Maggie starts barking outside and the noise becomes louder.
Dear Lord, please keep me safe so I can wear cheetah print again.
9:07 (and 34 seconds later) I toss my laptop aside, grab Sophie Sue and under the covers we go.
Did you think I would go and find the noise? Honestly. I am not that person who will channel their inner Perry Mason and sniff out the noise that might cause bodily harm. Nope. This chick is staying under the covers until lightness peeks thru the windows or until Cowboy comes home. Whichever comes first.
There it goes again. Knock knock scratch. Knock knock scratch…
to be continued.
’til next Sunday y’all- xo, Tammy
