I don’t know how I can go from doing one thing and ending up with a mess of other things.
Yesterday (Saturday) I decided to clean my pantry/laundry room. It was time to give it a good scrubbin’. It’s a pretty large room so I figured it would take me a couple of hours. But one thing led to another…
COWBOY: (Talking to me while he’s in Lolita’s arms) What’s on your agenda for today?
ME: I think I’ll clean the laundry room today. It shouldn’t take too long.
COWBOY: You know it never works out like that. You start with one thing and end up doing something else.
ME: You think you know me so well, don’t ya?
COWBOY: All I know is it’s been like that for almost thirty three years.
ME: Blah Blah Blah.
After breakfast I head to tackle my chore. I turn up my Latino music (because I work best while listening to a little Luis Alfonso) roll up my sleeves and get busy.
Thinking to myself after I finished cleaning (two hours later): Not only did this room need cleaning but it needs reorganizing as well.
ME: (Catching Cowboy as he’s heading out of the door) Where are the long folding tables?
COWBOY: In the barn, why do you need them?
ME: I’ve decided to take everything out of the laundry room and reorganize it.
COWBOY: I knew it.
Three hours later-
Thinking to myself as I walk back into the newly scrubbed laundry room: This room could also use a coat of paint. That shouldn’t take too long.
Two hours later Cowboy comes in from working all day outside-
COWBOY: (Looking at me from head to toe) What in the world happended to you? You’ve got paint all over you, even in your hair!
(Looking around the house) it looks like a pantry exploded in here.
ME: (Slumping my shoulders) I know. One thing led to another and now I’m painting . I don’t know how this keeps happening.
