Since this is the “sharing” season, I wanted to do my part and share something that happened to me just the other day. Especially since gift giving is my love language. And quite frankly, you can’t make this stuff up…
I was busy running errands, feeling pretty good about how many things I had already crossed off my “to do” list when I remembered I needed to send out a fax by 3:00. Checking the time, I realized that driving all the way out to po-dunk country was not going to work. No problem, I’ll just pop right into the local office supply store.
After waiting in line for 30 minutes, I finally get to send my fax. Fax sent. I gather my things and take my papers to the cash register to be checked out by the cashier, who reminds me of Oompa Loompa.
ME: Hi there, how are you today?
OOMPA LOOMPA: Fine.
ME: Alrighty then, I just sent a fax but there wasn’t a stapler by the machine, can I borrow yours.
And this is where it gets good…
OOMPA LOOMPA: We can try but it didn’t have any staples in it yesterday.
Sweet Jesus, I literally look around to make sure I’m still in the office supply store…where they sale staples.
ME: (Trying to find the little bit of patience I have left) Umm, how about we fill the stapler with staples? I’m pretty sure you can find them on aisle 7.
For the love of God.
