Let me just start off by saying that I am THE favorite child in my family and I may be a little spoiled. I have 4 AMAZING siblings. Each of us are unique in our own way. But I am certain that I am THE favorite (just ask my sweet parents and they’ll tell you). Some of us are tall (not me) some of us have blue eyes (not me) and some of us look more chilean than others (DEFINITELY not me)! I know, the chilean part threw ya, didn’t it? It comes from my dad’s side of the family. One would never guess that part of my heritage. My grandfather was born in Chili. My grandmother was Cajun-French. People always asked if I can speak spanish. Umm, no habla espanol BUT I do love mexican & brazilian food, and I love the music! Does that help?
My favorite memory of my grandparents is of dinner time at their house, holy cow, it was an AWESOME combination!! Spanish AND Cajun-French… we had the best foods when we would visit them. Shrimp gumbo, boudain, steamed crabs and rice…yum. My grandmother made the best french toast. I can taste it as I’m typing this. I also loved it when my grandfather would come to visit us, except when my mom would cook his favorite meal which was liver & onions. I’m sorry but liver? I have never wanted to eat an organ in my life! Ever!! There are some foods that ketchup can not disguise the taste of and liver is one of them! When my grandfather would visit us he would bring me clothes from Chili which made me the ultimate fashionista. He always made me feel so special. It’s probably because I was his favorite too! I forgot to tell you that part. THE favorite of his grandchildren AND a fashionista? Yayy me!!
So let’s get back to the being spoiled part. In my defense, my parents and my brothers (all 3 of them are older than me and they were always very protective) lent a helping hand in spoiling me in my early years. If I wanted something I would ask nicely for it and they would get it for me. I did not throw temper tantrums or stomp my feet. We were raised to say yes ma’am, no ma’am, please and thank you. Again, If I wanted it, I usually got it… and then I met Cowboy.
I went from living at home with my parents to marrying Mr. Wranglers…
to be continued next Sunday ya’ll!
