Typically when we hear the words ring toss it’s associated with carnivals, birthday parties, game night etc. But for my Cowboy it takes on a completely different meaning. We had been dating about six months and he had asked if I wanted to go to The Texas Ball. His friends (who quickly became my friends) were all going to be there (to say I was a little nervous was an understatement). The Texas Ball was an event hosted by the Junior League. The Junior League is an organization made up of amazing women that raise money for different causes in our area. I asked him what should I wear? He said western stuff and boots, of which I had neither. I knew I was going to meet people for the first time, so I really needed to get this “western stuff” right.
He had introduced me to John & Sheena a few months before and I remembered they owned a western wear store…bingo!! I absolutely love this couple. They welcomed me into the circle of friends with open arms and their friendship is one that I still cherish to this day. So after work one day I rushed off to find the western outfit of my dreams, one that would make my cowboy drool. After trying on many jeans, skirts and shirts, Sheena brings me a jumpsuit to try on and says I know it’s a little more than you budgeted but just try it on. Well holy smokes! That jumpsuit was white with shoulder pads AND it was bedazzled with everything from rhinestones to silver studs and it sparkled! Everyone knows how much I like things that sparkle. It was perfect AND I felt amazing in it!!! I felt as though I could belt out a Reba McEntire tune right there for everyone to hear, then I remembered I can’t sing (not even a little) so I looked at the price tag instead…yikes, that’s one expensive bedazzled jumpsuit!! So I started justifying it in my head as we women tend to do: It’s only a weeks worth of pay. I really want this! I need to make an entrance. I really really want this! Cowboy needs to be proud of how I look. I really, really, really WANT this!
It worked, I bought it!
When Cowboy came to pick me up I was running a tad bit late. In my hurried state of mind, while I was putting the finishing touches on my perfect outfit and my perfect hair, I mistakenly grabbed my hair mousse instead of my hairspray…
