A Cowboy and Me

by Tammy Gilbert - Story Teller & Published Author, Decorator & Aesthetician

Israel

[rlslider id=715]
Israel has always been a place of interest to me.  But with all of the negative media surrounding it, I put it on the back burner, in hopes that one day our crazy world would calm down.  Several years later I decided to expand my spa and enter into the medical spa world where I could offer many more “result driven” services.  That’s when an angel sent me my business partner, Galia (the crazy Israeli).  We are VERY different but immediately clicked in all of the right ways!  She is truly God’s gift to me.  Partnering with her has allowed me to follow my passion, which is permanent cosmetics.
One day Galia and I were talking about taking a vacation together.  She has two gorgeous boys that she loves to be with and I of course LOVE to travel with my beautiful daughter (this was a non-Cowboy trip)!  We were having a conversation about her mom, since she was missing her so much.   She then asked what I thought about us visiting Israel.  I said “Really? Is it safe?”  She then started telling me about her country.  I was blown away for the love she has for Israel.  The picture she painted made it seem like a fairytale.  I went home and spoke to my daughter about it, who of course was over the moon ecstatic!  Then came Cowboy, he’s a harder sale on this travel stuff.  He thinks everyone  should stay right here in Pidcoke so he can keep an eye on us. (funny guy, as if I wouldn’t travel)   His main concern was our safety.  I told him we would be staying with Galia’s mom and only traveling with her;  I know lucky right?!
So off we go on our overnight flight to Tel Aviv, Israel!
The minute we landed, I was hooked!!  This small piece of heaven will AMAZE you.  We walked the paths that Jesus walked in Old City Jerusalem and visited  His tomb in the stunning church.  The architectural designs of the old city was breath-taking.  We visited the Wailing Wall and were fortunate to journey our way thru the ruins at Caesarea, Masada, and Herzliyya.
My favorite places were Haifa and of course the Dead Sea, which I named the Sea of Healing.
We will never be able to pay back such hospitality and kindness that we experienced from Galia and her family!
My wish for you would be to go. Go and visit this fairy tale of a place they call Israel.  But until you do, travel with us in spirit through these pictures.
You will come back with a sense of love, peace and a beautiful memory that will last you a lifetime!

Did I ever tell you about the time I went to Lowe’s to buy paint and it leaked out of my suv all of the way home? Yep, left a paint trail all the way home. But that’s another story. Dumb salesperson who loaded it. If I ever see him again I’ll walk right up to him and poke his eyeballs out!

Back to my story-
I turned my music on and painted, danced and painted some more. Time flew by because when…

There are times in our life that permanent cosmeti There are times in our life that permanent cosmetics makes our quality of life so much easier. Meet Ms Charlotte, she recently celebrated her 90th bday. She has lived a life of beautiful memories. Every time I get to see her she is nothing short of glamorous. Her hair, clothes and makeup are impeccable. And her perfume reminds of what a glamorous socialite would have worn back in the 50’s.

When she visited me today I asked her what I could help her with.

She said that she would never EVER leave her house without her makeup being just right and with her tremors, it takes her a hot minute to get it “just perfect”.

So I got busy designing her brows and selecting the perfect color for her lower eyeliner all while chatting with her about life. What a treat!!

Once finished she hugged me and said she knew she had chosen the right artist. She wanted someone that wouldn’t try to make her look younger or faddish but timeless.

And then she said she’d see me next month. I mentioned that her that we didn’t need to do a touchup on her brows OR her liner.

She says: “Oh honey, you’ve done an excellent job on those but now it’s time to do my lips”.

ME: Your lips? Are you sure?

HER: Absolutely! And no neutral colors for me. I want fuchsia! I don’t want to look boring and pale!

Fuchsia it is then!
